The Swiss Society for Interventional Pain Management is committed to the highest standards in interventional pain medicine – scientifically sound, interdisciplinary, and in the service of patients.
The SSIPM unites physicians from various disciplines who specialize in the treatment of chronic pain using interventional procedures – with the common goal of restoring quality of life to those affected.
Our vision is a Switzerland where every person with chronic pain has access to evidence-based, high-quality interventional pain treatment – regardless of their place of residence, language region, or insurance status.

Our History

2003
Founding of the SSIPM as a specialist society for interventional pain medicine in Switzerland.
2007
Recognition of the Certificate of Competence "Interventional Pain Therapy SSIPM" by the FMH.
2012
Introduction of the structured continuing education program with defined learning objectives and minimum numbers.
2016
Establishment of the periodic recertification process for quality assurance.
2020
Launch of the IDSP Diploma (Interventional Diploma in Spine Pain) as a European-wide recognized quality standard.
2024
Over 500 certified members and nationwide coverage in all Swiss language regions.
